USA Water Polo’s Olympic Development Program National Championships have been postponed due to concerns about the Corona virus. The girls’ championship tournament has been rescheduled for May 22-24 in Riverside, CA. Chief High Performance Officer, John Abdou, announced the decision in a letter to participants earlier today.

The Southwest Zone’s Head Coach Chris Cullen and his teams were preparing to travel to Riverside this Friday for competition to be held on Saturday and Sunday.

The news comes as the Ivy League announced their “unanimous” decision to cancel all remaining spring athletics practice and competition for the rest of the scholastic year. Similar news is emerging from Southern California where it is expected that members of the Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Conference (SCIAC) will suspend competition.

Leaders at Austin College and its water polo program have not commented on the situation as of this writing.

This is an emerging story. Check back for updates.
